It Chapter 2 Review

IT Chapter Two "Losers' club Reunion"

"IT Chapter Two" is a great film with great storytelling however, the execution dies midway through the film. This film does not fit into the prototypical "horror" genre because the movie focuses on the storytelling instead of jump scares. I will go through the pros and cons of "IT Chapter Two," then giving my rating out of 10 at the end.

Pro- Richie

Bill Hader is an incredible actor and his hot streak continues with this performance. He plays adult Richie, who is a stand-up comic, that doesn't write his own jokes. Hader takes complete control of how Richie acts and thinks, even his childish jokes were spot on. He was hilarious in the most serious moments of the film. That is not the best part, he showed some raw emotion, which is something we have never seen him do.  Hader continues to prove that he is not just a comedian but an actor as well.

Con- The weird tribal stuff

I don't understand why they chose to go weird with tribal visions. I understand that this is based on a book, but I mean it just looks so weird. They could have easily changed that part to something that made sense.

Pro- Scary, Scary, Scary,

This movie is really scary at times.  Pennywise might be one of the scariest movie monsters/villains of the past 25 years. Not only is he scary, but the strange monsters that come alive are amazing. The CGI in this movie makes it even scarier, but I loved every minute of it.

Con- Mike

I loved everyone's performance in this film. I believe they picked a great cast. However, they made Mike look stupid and crazy. Mike was the glue that brought everyone back, but he didn't do anything right. He had so many secrets that he did not have to hide. I blame the writing, not Isaiah Mustafa.

Pro- the characters

The amazing characters are the best part of the entire film by far. I was engaged, scared, and sad by the time the, almost THREE HOUR, film ended. This was long-form storytelling at its finest. I never felt like the movie was dragging along. I loved the characters, young and old, it was amazing.

Overall score- 8.8 out of 10

This move is no doubt a great film, but the weird tribal stuff and Mike's writing hurts this movie. This movie is a borderline classic film because of its amazing cast and characters.
