Six Things I learned about Social Media
Social media can be very intimidating when you first start off. I just didn’t know what to expect, I had a fear of the unknown. Almost everyone has their own social media page, but running a companies page is just another story. I was lucky enough to have been taught all of the tricks and tips of the beast that social media is. I found out many things that the normal social media users wouldn’t know. Lucky for you I am going to share ten things I learned while becoming a social media professional.
1. Be original
One of the hardest things to do is being original. I know that sounds crazy but, many people do not know how to be creative enough to create their own original idea. If you are to be a master of social media you have to be creative. Make a spark on social media, that's how you are you going to get ahead. For example Eggo a company that specializes in frozen breakfast foods created a social media campaign based on Stranger Things. Eggo teamed up with the show to promote the show's season 2 premiere. The campaign was very simple, they interacted with the Stranger Things fans which tapped into another audience for Eggo.
2. Use Advertisements on social media
Advertise, advertise, advertise, I cannot stress this enough. If you want your company to grow people must see your content. If you use Facebook’s advertisement “Running ads to content can make them feel more “native” to the Facebook platform. If all goes well, people won’t even notice they’re ads, and before you know it, they’ve visited your website and subscribed to your email list.” according to blog.wishpond.com. Facebook also owns Instagram so your company can also take advantage of the Instagram market of consumers.
3. Post audience-focused content
Having content is great but it doesn't matter if your target audience is not seeing it. Post things that are shareable with your target audience. Think about your demographic and what that like to see. What do the people in your field care about? For example, If you are a woman’s soap company and are releasing a brand new scent, who should that post cater to, women of course. Women care about the scent and what it smells like so that's what the post should be about. Make sure your post is calculated so you won’t lose the audience that the company worked so hard to get.
4. Share user-generated content
So you have your target audience, now do you know how to keep them? Interact with your followers! This makes your consumers feel important and makes them even more loyal to your product However it will not do much in terms of sending traffic to your website, it shows that you care about your fans and followers and helps to strengthen your brand.
5. Get an Influencer
Having a social media influencer is very important to keep your brand going strong. They not only popular but if they like your product they are willing to show more effort in the campaign process. If you use an influencer like the celebrity, Amber Rose or a Youtube star such as Liza Koshy, then they will be sparking a larger interest in their product. In this age of vlogging and video-created content, using a famous influencer will not only give your company attention on social media but also persuade many fans of the influencer to purchase the product.
6. Use analytics
Social media analytics are very important for your companies success. Your company should know how well they are doing on social media. For example, hootsuite is a platform that allows you to plan your social media post ahead of time. Hootsuite manages all your social media in one place. It allows the company to work together and get approval on a post ahead of time. It helps to have an app that makes you be consistent in your social media posts.
